Implementation of the curriculum is as prescribed in the Ontario Curriculum documents for all subject areas. French as a Second Language instruction is enhanced through the availability of a second language monitor at our school for this year.

Co-Curricular Program

St. Francis has a number of special events that run throughout the year. The events involve students and our entire school community (parents, priest, volunteers, extended families and community members).

These events demonstrate the friendly, caring and co-operative nature of our school.

  • Brown Bag Lunch: Parents and/or grandparents are invited to join their child (grandchild) for lunch on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at school.
  • Monthly Liturgical Celebrations: We have monthly celebrations at St. Francis School or we join Father Ken Gauthier, our Holy Name of Jesus parish priest, for special celebrations.
  • Christmas Concert: JK to Grade 6 students perform musical and dramatic productions
  • Play Day and Carnival: Our Grade 6 students volunteer as captains for a half day packed with games and fun.
  • Concours d'art oratoire: French public speaking contest for Grades 4-6 (bi-annually). Winners are chosen at the school, community and provincial level.
  • Announcements: Grade 5/6 students take turns preparing and broadcasting morning announcements for the school.
  • D.A.R.E.: A member of the North Bay Police Force visits the Grade 5/6 students to provide students with vital information on Drug Abuse Resistance Education.

St. Francis also has several sports that students take part in:

School Events
