Catholic School Advisory Council

Chair: Elaine Aultman

The St. Gregory Catholic Advisory Council is a very active group with approximately 20 active members.

The mission statement as defined by the Council's constitution is to "identify problems and concerns and opportunities within the school environment to promote the Catholic Faith and Gospel values and work collaboratively to develop strategies and solutions to enhance the development and educational experiences of all students and all people involved at St. Gregory."

How We Live Our Catholic Faith

The St. Gregory Catholic School community is one in which the teachings of Jesus Christ are integrated into the day-to-day curriculum and social fabric of school life. The strength of our school comes from the Catholic Faith that the staff, students and community share. We expect our students to develop a way of living that embodies the teachings of Jesus Christ.

The staff and students of St. Gregory Catholic School have many opportunities to pray and demonstrate their Catholic faith. Our school chapel off the main lobby is the focal point of our faith in the building. These opportunities include school-wide and classroom liturgies, the celebration of the sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation.

Our school works closely with our parish communities, St. Joseph Church in Powassan and Sacred Heart Church in Trout Creek. Fr. Paul is a frequent visitor at the school. Fr. Andrew visits every class each Wednesday. Two of our teachers, Mrs. Corry Ruttan, and Mrs. Marg Kelly are the liaison between church and school. We have an active liturgy committee that includes teaching staff, non-teaching staff, parents and the two parish priests.

Our students and teachers are active in their support of the local food bank and our choir and grade 6 classes are very active in their support for seniors at Eastholme Residence in Powassan.

Parents are always welcome and feel comfortable in sharing in the daily life of their children at the school.
